The USA BMX Hardesty National Stadium and National Headquarters, constructed as a Vision Tulsa project, won four awards at the ABC (Associated Builders and Contractors) Oklahoma Excellence in Construction Awards Banquet held in Tulsa last week.
“These Excellence in Construction Awards for the USA BMX Vision Tulsa project show that the citizens of Tulsa have invested in a quality product with their sales tax funds,” Mayor G.T. Bynum said. “Since opening earlier this year, the USA BMX Hardesty National Stadium and National Headquarters has already made an impact on Tulsa’s economic development and quality of life. They’ve hosted BMX competitive events, as well as activities for Tulsa’s kids, including a Tulsa Parks day camp field trip last summer.”
The USA BMX Hardesty National Stadium and National Headquarters won the following awards:
The ABC New Hampshire/Vermont chapter judged the awards for Oklahoma this year. Winners received eagle trophies (see attached photo).
According to the ABC, “The Excellence in Construction awards competition is a program to publicly recognize quality and innovations in merit shop construction, and to honor all members of the team: contractor, owner, architect and engineer.”
City of Tulsa Engineering Services Director Paul Zachary said, “One and sometimes two awards per project is typical. Four awards for a single project is exemplary.”

The USA BMX National Headquarters and Hardesty National Stadium held its grand opening in February. The total $23 million project was constructed with $18.6 million from the Vision Tulsa sales tax, $2 million from the Tulsa Parking Authority (now part of PartnerTulsa), $1.5 million from The Hardesty Foundation, and $900,000 in City economic development funding.
