A street rehabilitation project on Southwest Boulevard between West 23rd Street and West 40th Street has begun this week. During this project, traffic will be limited to one lane in each direction in the work area. Access will be maintained for all residents and businesses.
Work to be done on this 1.8-mile section includes mill, patch and overlay – removing the old pavement surface, patching underneath the surface, and then repaving the street. The project also includes curb, gutter, driveway approaches, sidewalk maintenance, stormwater drainage improvements, waterline replacement, and intersection upgrades at 25th Street with a new traffic signal.
When this project is complete, the 56-foot-wide roadway from West 23rd Street to West 25th Street will have two driving lanes in each direction and a center turn lane. The 62-foot-wide roadway from West 25th to West 40th Street will have a bicycle lane with buffer strip in each direction, one driving lane in each direction, and a center turn lane.
The City of Tulsa has contracted with Becco Contractors for this $7,097,000 project, funded by the Improve Our Tulsa sales tax. Completion of the project is estimated for December 2023.
