Tulsa Parks has reached an important milestone in the redevelopment of Johnson Park, located near 61st and Riverside Dr.

The “Reimagine Johnson Park” Concept Plan will be presented to community members for feedback at the park on Saturday, August 27, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., in conjunction with a Food on the Move event.

The goal of the plan is to ensure an inclusive approach to gathering the community’s input to help determine their vision, unmet needs, and priorities for Johnson Park.

The renovation and redesign will transform the current green area into an open, inviting, and recreational park for the community to enjoy for years to come.

Throughout the summer, community members voiced their vision for the park through a series of key stakeholder interviews, focus group discussions, community events, and a neighborhood survey.

The entire budget for the project is $3.125 million from the ‘Improve Our Tulsa 2’ program, which funds improvement projects throughout the city.

The concept plan costs $40,000 from the overall budget. The next step is to select a consultant to draw up plans for the park improvements.

Construction is estimated to begin in 2024.
