Situation Update
The City continues to operate under CDC, Tulsa Health Department (THD) and Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) guidelines. To date, there have been six confirmed positive COVID-19 cases in Tulsa County, with one death and one recovered patient- community spread is confirmed in Tulsa County.
Travel Guidelines
Under THD guidance, Tulsa County residents traveling domestically or internationally, especially if coming back to Tulsa from Spring Break, should monitor their health and practice social distancing for 14 days after returning from travel. Travelers who are sick with fever, cough or have trouble breathing should stay home and call ahead before seeking medical care.
The City of Tulsa is utilizing work from home practices (and encourages other business to follow this approach) except for first responders and service related employees that need to be in the field. For those individuals, protocols are in place to check temperatures and conduct health assessments throughout their shifts. At the City, employees can’t return to work without first checking with City Medical if they traveled out of the country or were on a cruise, traveled domestically through an international airport hub, traveled by car and visited an area with community spread of COVID-19, or if they didn’t travel, but a member of their household traveled and has a fever or is showing respiratory illness symptoms.
City to Issue Variances Updates
Due to COVID-19, the City will be granting a variance from Periods of Duty Established for Stationary Engineers and Process Steam Boiler Operator Operating Mechanical Equipment Requiring Licensed Operators, Section 201. B. requirement as defined in Title 59.
All facilities requiring 24/7 operating engineers can request a variance from one required shift for the requirements of licensed personnel. Variances will be evaluated and granted upon the request being submitted for approval to Phil Bradley, [email protected].
All variances granted shall remain in effect for fourteen (14) days after the emergency declaration expiration date, at which time application for permanent variance must be submitted and approved for a permanent variance to be granted.
