City Prepared for Extreme Cold Weather; Emergency Shelters, Drop-In Warming Stations Open

The City of Tulsa is preparing for extreme cold temperatures anticipated for the area beginning Saturday, Jan. 18, and lasting through early next week.

While winter precipitation chances remain low, the City will monitor any potential winter weather that moves through the area and respond accordingly. The City's snow and ice routes, in addition to the resources the City has to treat Tulsa's roads, can be found online at www.cityoftulsa.org/winterpreparedness.

Warming Stations

The City of Tulsa continues to work with Housing Solutions Tulsa and A Way Home for Tulsa agencies to mobilize resources to protect the lives of people experiencing homelessness.

Warming stations and drop-in shelters are available. For more information, including the most updated list of those shelters, visit Housing Solutions' Winter Weather Information page.

Emergency shelter locations include:

Salvation Army, 102 N. Denver Ave.
Tulsa Day Center, 415 W. Archer St. (Pets allowed, limited capacity)
John 3:16 Mission, 506 N. Cheyenne Ave.
Youth Services of Tulsa, 311 S. Madison Ave.

The Merchant, 605 S. Peoria, Monday, January 20, 9 a.m.-Noon / Tuesday-Friday, 9-11 a.m.
Denver Ave. Station, 319 S. Denver Ave., Sunday, 8:30 a.m. – 8:30 p.m. / Monday-Saturday, 5:30 a.m. – 11:30 p.m.
The Station at Youth Services, 311 S. Madison Ave., Monday-Friday, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Iron Gate, 501 W. Archer St., Daily 8:30-10:30 a.m.
The Ministry Center, 312 S. 33 W. Ave., Tuesday – Thursday, 9:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

What to Do if You Encounter Someone Unhoused and in Need of Help

In an Emergency: Call 911 immediately for urgent medical or safety concerns.
Request Outreach Assistance: If someone needs help from an outreach team on-site, fill out an Outreach Request Form and Housing Solutions will send someone out to check on them as quickly as possible.

How You Can Help

Donate Winter Gear: Items such as warm blankets, hats, gloves, and socks are greatly needed. Donations can be made at Tulsa Day Center, 415 W. Archer.
Support Local Shelters: Monetary contributions to local shelters and outreach teams ensure quick and flexible support where it’s most needed.

If you’re an organization interested in opening as an overflow shelter location during weather events, visit www.cityoftulsa.org/weather and click the “Warming Stations” drop down.

Water Line Break Reporting

With around 100 hours of below freezing temperatures expected, extended severe cold can sometimes cause waterline breaks on City streets and in neighborhoods.

If you suspect a break, first check the waterline break board, https://www.cityoftulsa.org/breakboard, to see if a break has already been reported. If not, you can report it by calling (918) 596-9488.
