In an effort to promote cohesive and engaged communities and build cross-cultural communications and awareness, the City of Tulsa is recruiting facilitators for the second round of Equity Dinners taking place this spring.
The City of Tulsa is seeking facilitators who are willing to engage with a diverse group of Tulsans and effectively guide constructive discussions about race and racial equity.
The Equity Dinners are a part of the City of Tulsa’s Resilient Tulsa Strategy. A first round of dinners were held in 2018 with 27 facilitators and 250 participants. The Mayor’s Office of Resilience and Equity (MORE) will host a second round of Equity Dinners throughout April and May to encourage constructive and meaningful conversations to bring understanding and unity among Tulsans of all backgrounds.
Facilitators will need to attend two, half-day facilitator training sessions. Those without extensive experience in facilitating these types of discussions are still encouraged to apply, as the training sessions are designed to equip all facilitators with the tools they need to build their effectiveness.
Training sessions will be held on Saturday, March 21, and Saturday, March 28. Facilitators will also need to be available to co-facilitate an Equity Dinner between April 1 and May 30. MORE is partnering with Oklahoma State University’s Center for Public Life in Tulsa to host the trainings.
Equity Dinner dates and locations will be made available soon. Businesses and restaurants wanting to host an Equity Dinner at their facility should contact Resilient Tulsa at [email protected].
Those wanting to be facilitators should complete an application by this Sunday, March 15, at http://bit.ly/MORE-Facilitator.
