General Assistance
- Training Sessions – From time to time, we offer training sessions when new processes or programs are introduced.
Commercial Projects
- Code Compliance Process Meetings – Attended by the applicants, building code officials and Fire Marshals, meetings are intended to ensure potential projects do not encounter issues of code compliance. They are scheduled in advance, mid-way through the design process.
- Commercial Building Process Manual – The starting point for all applicants, the manual details the requirements for commercial permit applications.
- Priority Reviews – An accelerated review process for interior alteration projects that have no change of use.
- Electronic Reviews – Using our Self-Service Portal, the applicant can eliminate time-consuming trips to the Permit Center by applying for permits online. All steps in the permitting process can be done online.
- Reviewer Conferences – Applicants or reviewers may request meetings to resolve problematic issues. Meetings should be scheduled with the appropriate reviewer.
Residential Projects
- Residential Building Process Manual – The starting point for all applicants, the manual details the requirements for residential permit applications.
- Electronic Reviews – By utilizing our Self-Service Portal, the applicant can eliminate time-consuming trips to the Permit Center by applying for permits online. All steps in the permitting process can be done online.
- Professional Home Builder Program – An accelerated review process with minimal submission requirements for residential builders who have met the requirements of the program. Interested builders should contact the Home Builders Association for additional information. A manual detailing submission requirement is available.
- Fast Track Program – A same-day review process for residential projects that meet the pre-requisite criteria. Appointments required.
- Reviewer Conferences – Applicants or reviewers may request meetings to resolve problematic issues. Meetings should be scheduled with the appropriate reviewer.
Infrastructure Development Projects (IDP)
- Pre-Development Meeting - Held with the Infrastructure Development staff for the review of public infrastructure developments and improvements.
- IDP Manual - details the requirements and process for an IDP project.
Inspection Services
- Pre-Construction Meeting - Held with Inspection Services Staff to identify potential problems prior to the start of construction of building projects.
Public Records
Development Services recognizes the importance of the availability of permitting records to the construction industry. We maintain records in several formats including microfiche, pdf, and paper.
- Commercial project records from the 1980’s until the late 2000’s are available in Microfiche format with increasing reliability in the later years.
- Commercial and residential records are available in electronic format from 2008 forward.
- Records for incomplete and new applications after April 30, 2018, are available in the Self-Service portal with guest access.
- A completed Request for Public Records form is required for access to records for projects completed prior to April 30, 2018. Please consult the Public Records section for additional information on the Open Records Act Policy and the fee schedule.
